City couple blessed with child through unique IVF procedure after 22 years of marriage
A couple married for 22 years achieved a successful pregnancy with the help of advanced technology and donor oocyte at the Indira IVF Raipur centre. Sarita, 44 (name changed) and her husband, Rajesh (name changed), were trying to have children after marriage 22 years back but remained unsuccessful even after 12 rounds of IUI elsewhere before they approached the city-based Indira IVF centre.
The evaluation at Indira IVF revealed that the female partner had Secondary Amenorrhoea (no mesnturation) with diminished ovarian reserve (inadequate number of eggs) with thin endometrium. Along with this, Sarita also had a history of APLA POSITIVE (ANA raised, LA normal, anti cardio lipin normal) and had undergone diagonsitic laproscopy for bilateral tubal block in 2016. She had taken ATT for six months in view of kochs. They had undergone twelve failed IU treatment at other clinics before so were apprehensive of any fruitful result. However, the experienced doctors at Indira IVF consulted and motivated them to begin treatment process.
The couple’s case indicated that a self-cycle of pregnancy with their own eggs would not be possible due to the lack of the same, and would have to resort to a donor egg cycle. A hysteroscopic lateral wall metroplasty was performed on Sarita which is a reconstructive procedure done on the uterus, scar tissues were released. After this she was given hormone replacement therapy for endometrium prepration. She had also received three doses of injection of platelet-rich plasma therapy. As this was a donor egg cycle, embryo transfer was done and two good quality blastocyst embryo were transferred into Sarita’s uterus when her endometrial thickness was 8 mm. On the 14th day after transfer, a beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (beta-hCG) test confirmed the pregnancy following which it was monitored very cautiously given the patient’s medical condition of APLA positive status. After few days patient complain of bleeding PV, on TVS large sub-chorionic hematoma was found. Patient was managed conservatively and subsequent scan showed no hematoma. Rest of the antenatal period was uneventful. Patient deliverd healthy baby at term

Due to other health conditions like APLA & secondary amenorrhoeas the treatment process was more complex. It is imperative to understand that treatment at right age and time increases the chances of positive result many fold.” With all the efforts, Sarita and Rajesh’s dream of becoming parents was fulfilled with a baby after 22 years of marriage and multiple IUI attempts.
